Wow.

This is (or was) the most impossibly delicious, flaky, buttery, perfect croissant in all the world.  I was totally going to break up with Matthew and Heidi, but luckily for them,  they stopped at Bakery Nouveau and picked me up one of these before they came over today.  If it didn't mean that I'd be 4 dress sizes bigger, I'd eat one of these at every meal.  OMFG. Yes, it was this croissant that inspired me to post after nearly three weeks.

Bad bad bad blogger.

I know, I know.  I haven't posted in one million years.  I got nuthin', people.  Stop pressuring me.  It's flattering that you want to know what's in my brain.  That's nice.  But you're annoying me now, so stop it.

Mother's Day Breakfast

13 Habits of a Somewhat Successful Mom

Since it's Mother's Day, and I'm officially a mom now, I'll take some time to take stock of my newly acquired mommy habits:

1. I actually get out the little crevice tool when I vacuum.
2. I wipe off the high chairs at restaurants.
3. I sterilize things.
4. I carry a very large purse, which contains among other things, a bottle of Purell, diapers, baby wipes, changing pad, ziploc bags, an Epi-pen, an extra outfit for the baby, 3 types of lip gloss, a hairbrush, toys, books and a pacifier.  Soon, I'll reach the next level when I add a pair of tweezers and band-aids.
5. I wash my hands one thousand times a day.
6. I am convinced that every person I see is carrying a communicable disease.
7. I think Annabel's crying is cute.
8. My mousepad is a copy of  The Giving Tree.
9. I wear sensible shoes most of the time.
10. I will talk about my baby all day long.
11. I'll listen to you talk about your baby all day long.
12. I believe that my child is smarter, healthier, cuter,  and more talented than any other.  I realize that all parents think like this, but in my case it happens to be actually be true.
13. I'm wearing curlers for Christ's sake.

In the studio

Peter and the boys from the band (Curtains for You, that is) were kind enough to let Annabel and I hang out in the studio with them for a few hours this weekend while they recorded their new album (live!).  It was really interesting to watch the whole recording process happening, because the vast majority of it is a total and complete mystery to me.  Music just makes itself, doesn't it? I took lots of photos with my  awesome new Lensbaby 2.0,which Peter just bought for me as an anniversary gift/consolation prize for having an  ENTIRE WEEKEND ALONE WITH THE BABY, which is not a thing we take lightly around these here parts.   We like to take breaks for things like showers and self-reflection periodlically, which is where that whole "two parent household" thing comes in really handy.  But I digress. Too bad I hadn't the time to practice with it (then lens  - try to keep up, people) before I went ape shit crazy with it in the studio. It's a tricky little thing that has a mind of its own. Consequently, I'm unhappy with most of what I shot, but managed to salvage a few shots thanks to the wonders of Camera RAW and my BFF, Photoshop.  I've got a few photos up on their myspace page.  Do check them out, won't you?

puppy love

Today, Annabel and I had a playdate with two of the birth class mommies and their baby boys.  We went for a walk around Greenlake and enjoyed some fresh air and intermittent bursts of sunshine (we take what we can get around these parts).  I experienced major stroller envy after pushing Graham in his BOB jogging stroller and I'll now be dropping heavy hints until one of these magical contraptions finds its way onto my doorstep.  Ahem.
AND!  Annabel was totally obsessed with Elissa's dog, Shirley.  They had a grand time playing together until Shirley crossed the line and licked Annabel's nose, at which point the delightful/maniacal laughter came to an abrupt end.

And check out the the first tooth (click on the photo for a big enough view):
